Wasatch Ridge Hike


Scott's Pass, cool breeze
sun hot without the breeze

bird-calls, bee-buzz
wind-whir in the fir
a waterfall inside me

aspen flutter-flash in wind

cold wind on ridge
no trees to block it

sage sways
spit flies far
bird surfs the wind ridge

a trick to piss in the whirling wind

eagle stalks above Red Pine
doe crosses trail

many kinds of dung
around ridge
--- including mine

returning ---
my feet are heavier --- pack lighter

walking at 10,000 feet
I'm 6,000 feet closer to the sun
than when at home
